The shortlist of finalists for the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards were announced September 1, and they're funnier than ever.

Supporting the Save Wild Orangutans charity with this years competition, the CWPA will donate 10% of it's total net revenue to them.
With the competition receiving well over 7000 photos from across the globe, the final shortlist showcases the biggest mix of animals seen in the competition to date.

Paul Joynson-Hicks MBE, Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards Co-Founder, said: "We were overwhelmed with the number and quality of entries this year. It was an amazing turnout, especially given the impact of the pandemic.
"The huge number of images we receive every year illustrates the appetite there is to engage with conservation and reminds is that wildlife truly is incredible and hilarious and we must do all we can to protect it."

Other Co-Founder, Tom Sullam, explained why the shortlist consists of two extra photos than usual, saying: "Whittling down the list of photographs was harder than ever this year.
"There were so many funny pictures that had us laughing that we couldn't settle on a top 40 - so we're releasing the top 42 instead!
"It was great to see a range of animals, from the incredibly rare to the humble pigeon."

Sullam also added that he's looking forward to seeing which photo the public chooses as their favourite in the People's Choice Award.
A number of fan favourites will also be showcased at The Photography Show at the NEC, Bimingham this month.

The category and overall winners will be announced on October 22, with the overall winner being awarded a one-week safari with Alex Walker's Serian in the Masai Mara, Kenya as well as a unique handmade trophy, provided by the Art Garage in Dar es Salaam Tanzania.
The panel of judges will include wildlife photographers Daisy Gilardini, Tom Laman, and Will Burrard-Lucas, travel editor Neil Stevenson, TV presenter Kate Humble, actor and comedian Hugh Dennis, Co-Founder of The Born Free Foundation Will Travers OBE, Managing Director of Serif, developer of award sponsor Affinity Photo Ashley Hewson, Think Tank's Simon Pollock, image expert Celina Dunlop, Amazing Internet's Andrew Skirrow, and the formidable ambassador for conservation, Bella Lack.
